It’s Day 3 – the evening of May 23. I went to church Sunday, and it was different. We had a special meeting with 5 other congregations. Everyone was thinking about it, but no one was saying what they thought… “Maybe we got left behind”. Even so, I felt like there were a lot of people that normally would be there, and just were not.
The power seemed to stay on all day Sunday and most of Monday, so maybe we are past the worst of it. It was weird getting up for work. I was not sure what to expect. It started out eerie, because there was not a lot of traffic on the road. I was able to buy gas, so it seems the banks and Credit card companies are still up and running, so they must all still be here.
What is really freaking me out is all the destructive natural phenomena. The Iceland Volcano and the Tornadoes in Joplin. CNN was getting reports of crazy weather all over the globe. Flooding in places that it never does, stuff like that.
I still have not been able to get a hold of my son Chris, and I don’t know how Cindy’s or my parents are doing. My sister in law can’t seem to find her boyfriend. It was odd, she did find cloths on the couch as if he had been sitting there and then was just gone. There are lots of reports like that. No one can find Harold Camping or many of his followers. I hate to say it, but I think we were left behind.
I did stop at Costco on the way home and bought about $400 worth of canned food. If I can find one, I may even buy small gas generator. Over the next few days, I’m going to make an inventory of our food supplies. I’m also going to update my 72 hour kit and make sure we have stuff packed so we can ditch at a moment’s notice.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
