May21 Project: Day 58

May21 Project: Day 58 – July 17, 2011.

It’s been over 50 days… I can’t believe it. 58 days. Things are starting to get bad. The next week after the Asteroid strike, Work had an indefinite shut down… In fact we have shut down our Albuquerque site permanently. Most folks I know in the high tech are also not going to work.

I have been spending my time getting the house setup for the long haul. My do list is big and I have been working on some of them: Fixing the back fence, Making sure I can purify the pool water, solar water heater, more Solar Panels to be able to charge batteries, and run a 300 watt inverter, food storage, etc… This light was charged from my solar panels.

The grocery stores are starting to become bare. I have been buying everything I can, but as of last week the store have stopped taking any credit cards. Gas for the car is hard to get these days. I have filled up about 10 five gallon containers with gas. Luckily I bought some gas additive stabilizer last year that should last me a long time. Now if I can only get more gas. We have to be careful, because folks have been having it stolen out of their cars around the town. May be time to find a motorcycle.

Not much news these days. I have hear that the refugees from the south east are moving north and west, and many states have mobilized the National Guard to help deal with the problems. It has been getting nasty, and we heard that in Texas they have started shooting looters. Sounds like they have been turning back anyone that seems like they are sick. The “flu” is starting to run wild in some of the refugee camps. I’m also hearing of armed gangs out that way too. We are thinking of setting up a neighborhood watch here to help watch out for each others stuff.
